Three-Week Programmes
In this package, you can choose a focused programme in contemporary South African Poetry, Shakespeare in a South African context, or museology. A teachers' workshop programme option is also available.
The duration of the sessions, as well as times and days, will be decided in consultation with the school.
Contemporary South African Poetry
In this programme, learners will be introduced to contemporary South African poetry that reflects on themes such as identity and culture, human rights, and mental health. The learners will explore these themes through a range of activities. They will also be guided in crafting, writing, and performing their own poems which engage with one or more of these themes.
This component will help learners develop their skills in textual analysis and critical thinking, as well as analytical thinking and creative writing.

Shakespeare in a South-African Context
In this programme, learners will get to explore how Shakespeare's works can be read and interpreted in a local context, particularly in relation to themes such as identity and culture, human rights, and mental health. Drawing on selected scenes from a range of Shakespearean plays, they will then be guided in creating their own short plays which creatively reimagine Shakespeare's plots, themes and words within a contemporary South- African setting.
This component will help learners further develop their textual analysis and critical thinking skills, while also building their public speaking, creativity, confidence and ability to collaborate with others.

Museology
In this programme, learners will get the opportunity to develop their own concepts for a museum exhibition, based on the historical events they have studied. They will receive a tour of a local museum and through dialogue, engagement and a range of creative activities, explore how exhibitions are curated and how using media such as poetry and performance can be incorporated into their exhibition concepts.
This component will help learners develop their research, critical thinking and presentation skills, while encouraging them to think creatively about how historical narratives can be interpreted and communicated through different media and to different audiences.

Teachers' Programme
In this programme, teachers will be introduced to new and innovative approaches they can use in teaching poetry and Shakespeare. In addition, the programme will be valuable to History teachers as it will explore ways in which incorporating poetry and performance into teaching can help enhance the history learning experience.
Through practical activities and discussion, teachers will develop strategies and resources that they can adapt for use in their own classrooms.
To accommodate as many teachers as possible, this programme can be taken either in-person or online. Teachers can select whether they want to attend a select number of sessions or participate in the full programme.
Pricing for this programme starts at R4 000 per session or R9 500 for the full programme.
