The Quickening Theatre Company is a South African theatre company dedicated to producing local and international contemporary works, and to revitalizing Shakespeare and other classical playwrights in productions that resonate with us all and reflect the here and now. The Quickening are committed to sophisticated storytelling , rigorous investigation of text, and exceptional theatrical execution.
The Tsikinya-Chaka Centre is a Research Unit in the School of Literature, Language and Media at the University of the Witwatersrand. Building on a significant but often-neglected history of translating Shakespeare's plays into African languages, the TCC seeks to promote scholarship, teaching and performance that engages with Shakespeare as a multilingual phenomenon. The focus is complemented by an emphasis on transnationalism: understanding Shakespearean histories and contemporary practices in different national contexts around the world by situating Shakespeare outside of limited 'English' paradigms.


The Johannesburg Holocaust and Genocide Centre is a place of memory, education, dialogue and lessons for humanity. The JHGC explores the history of genocide in the 20th century with a focus on the case studies of the Holocaust and the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. It examines the connections between genocide and contemporary human rights issues in South Africa, urging visitors to understand the consequences of prejudice, discrimination and othering.
